Electric Cars that will redefine Car Industry
Electric cars have a better emissions profile than internal combustion cars. A compact and quiet motor yields surprising acceleration of 100% torque at zero rpm, without the negative emissions associated with most cars on the road.
With technology developing rapidly, designs becoming more eye-catching and the world becoming more environmentally conscious, a new era of electric vehicles has been born. Here are some electric cars that will redefine car industry
Tesla Model X SUV:
The Model X delivers the kind of acceleration that most competitors only dream about. Every model in the lineup sprints from zero to 60 mph in under 5 seconds. The body, chassis, restraints and battery technology provide the lowest probability of occupant injury.
The most aerodynamic SUV ever, with the lowest drag coefficient on earth(0.25). The Model X’s all-wheel-drive system uses two motors (one for the front and the other for the rear wheels), unlike conventional AWD systems that have a single source of power.
Range: 475 kilometres.
Launch: December 2019 (expected).
Price: 55 lakhs (expected).
Jaguar I-PACE :
Instant torque and All Wheel Drive traction give I‑PACE the acceleration of a sports car. It reaches 100km/h (60mph) in 4.8 (4.5) seconds. The battery contains 432 pouch cells instead of thousands of cylindrical cells. The drag coefficient is 0.29.
The car will be channelled through two electric motors and I-Pace will be able to recoup any energy lost during braking and will also be able to charge its batteries up to 80% in under 40 minutes using 100kWh DC fast-charging socket.
Range: 450 kilometres.
Price: 55 lakhs (expected).
The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid is one of the most exotic ways available to show off your green motoring credentials, but it’s not entirely unique. It’s not the best of supercars in the world yet but it certainly does look more futuristic and sports-like than most of the cars out there.
Capable of doing 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds, while the handling can compete with the very best sports cars on the market today. A small mid-mounted 231bhp petrol engine drives the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox, while a biggish 143bhp electric motor drives the front wheels.
Price: 2.62 crores.
Range: 45-47 kilometres per litre.
The all-electric Lucid Air combines forward-looking design with groundbreaking technology to establish an entirely new class of vehicle, one with unparalleled comfort, performance, and convenience.
The Lucid Air is a four-door sports sedan with a top speed of more than 235 mph, power output equivalent to 1,000 horsepower and the battery is capable of 0 to 60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds. It’s unlikely that we will see a fully fledged version of the car.
Range: 375 kilometres.
Launch: Late 2019.
Price: 45 lakhs (base price).
Lamborghini Terzo Millennio (concept):
Lamborghini aims to reduce weight and to increase the availability of electric energy using structural electric energy storing composites as a rechargeable battery. The body of the car is monitored by a health system which contains sensors to detect any tears and dents in the car which are visible and non-visible also. Which will be known as the first self-healing supercar.
The above-mentioned can make a cut in the list of electric supercars list. There are a lot of affordable electric cars out there in the market. Guess that will make it to another post.
